This week is Daddio's spring break... yay! This week Orson & I are sick... boo! O & I have matching runny noses and watery eyes (plus a few other shared symptoms I don't care to mention). The fear of cooties has allowed Daddy to get a bit of studying done but we agreed Thursday would be our fun day. Wednesday the weather was amazing, 70 degrees and sunshine. Today (Thursday) the weather is rainy, windy and cold! We decided to take the train to the mall...

Orson loved all the flower arrangements.

Daddy shared some lunch with Orson in the food court.

The fountain was very amusing to Orson. Orson also encountered a wandering Easter Bunny, who engaged Orson in a lively game of "peek-a-boo." The mall was fun but also renews my appreciation for the Market and Splurge.

leah's tea party

Friday afternoon Orson & I took the train out to Leah's house for a tea party under her magnolia tree. The weather was perfect and the flowers were in full bloom. Leah took the following pictures and I think they're amazing...

Leah thought of everything! Orson had a great time sipping juice from the tiny glasses. He also happily nibbled on the sandwiches and cookies.

Ok, here are a few of my pictures... it was so bright and beautiful outside and my camera had a difficult time capturing the afternoon (excuses, excuses). Here's a shot of Leah's tree in all it's blooming glory...

Orson loved Leah's spring dress! (he kept wanting to touch her legs!)

Byron came over after class to sample Leah's ginger-infused vodka. (we drink more than tea at Leah's parties)

Leah's tree not only has amazing flowers but she also hangs some of her fun glass circles from the branches... it's very relaxing to watch them spin in the wind.

Naomi's momma was visiting from El Paso... it was great to see you Lori!

He chose some green pants (and then stopped to check his email :)

After putting on his green sweater, we debated over a hat (Leah knit this adorable hat). I thought it looked great!

monday night madness

I'm sure you're all wondering what is Orson's rubber duckie doing in the living room. Well, it's a long story so hold on...
We had a long day on Monday and Orson crashed early. Yay! A 6:15pm bedtime is unheard of! My mind raced to figure out what to do first. I decided to eat (my stomach was grumbling) after checking email and then I would get to sewing. But when I sat down in front of the computer I heard a strange noise coming from the bathroom. Our upstairs neighbor's hot water pipe had burst and was quickly filling our bathroom with scalding hot water... lovely. Did I mention Byron had to stay late at school? At least O was sleeping while I tried to salvage items from the bathroom. Our building manager came down with his adorable twin girls (one dressed like a ballerina, the other was a lady bug.) I invited them in to assess the damage and O woke up. He was quite disturbed to see these cute characters playing quietly with his toys! After they left, O calmed down and went back to sleep (for 5 minutes) until maintenance arrived to say they were cutting out the ceiling to our bathroom (it would only take a few hours) and I had a few minutes to clear out the entire bathroom. Lovely. So, I strapped O into his stroller and got to work! (any hope of sewing has now been swept away) O & I sat and watched them cut a hole in the ceiling. And then we listened to the workers curse as they discovered the pipe was not in the ceiling. Oops. So, the good news was they were done in our unit for the night but they would be back to repair the hole. Lovely. Cold water until 9am and then no hot water until 3pm on Tuesday (hopefully). Anyways, I ate a granola bar for dinner around 11:30. Lovely.

Orson's new wagon came in a great box that we couldn't just throw in the recycling bin...

Orson has become obsessed with my cell phone and he has been pranking people. Aunt Kristin was worried since it's rarely good news when someone calls several times in a row. No, it's not bad news, it's just your nephew being silly.

Orson received his birthday wagon from Grandma & Grandpa Rogers today! We set it up and took it for a test spin in the hallway. The ride is smooth and fun and most importantly... it fits in the elevator! Thank you Grandma & Grandpa!
