splish splash

Orson has always loved a getting a bath. I just recently moved his little bathtub from the kitchen sink into our big claw foot tub. He loves to kick and splash so the tub helps contain all the water that's being tossed about.

bonus pictures (part 1)

Here's a few pictures from our trip that didn't make it to the blog. I'll be adding more... think of these entries like the "bonus scenes" on a dvd.

Orson was ready to start his first full farm day by wearing his matching John Deere shirt (thank you Aunt Marty & Tristan) and socks (thank you Grandma Judy). I think it looks like I staged the foot crossing in the 1st picture but it's how he prefers to sit. In fact, if you uncross his feet he recrosses them.

market pics

Here's a shot of the boys at the market this past weekend.

Orson got to meet the newest market baby. She belongs to our friends Aylin & David (Aylin is a jeweler) and their little one is just under 2 months old... she's so sweet!

Orson showed Micah how good he is at grabbing things!
The boys had fun playing in the back of the booth. It was a great day.

feed me

While we were at the lake, Grandma Sarah bought Orson some rice cereal. He seemed to like the experience of trying food for the first time!

Orson is still eating rice cereal, he's also tried bananas, and this week we might sample some carrots!

biker boy

I've been so busy posting pictures of our trip that I didn't have a chance to announce that Orson joined a biker gang! Well, actually, he's just a poser. Grandma Sarah sent us this hilarious outfit. Who knew Orson would look so cute in a do-rag?!

good-bye (for now) to the farm (& the mid-west)

We were all sad to say good-bye, but we'll see Grandma & Grandpa (and Uncle Kent) when they come to Portland for Thanksgiving, and we'll be back on the farm for Christmas.

Byron, Orson & I drove to Chicago to give Grandpa David his car back and to get a ride to the airport. Here's Orson & I walking up to my parent's place...

Grandpa David somehow managed to be the first and last person to see Orson on this trip!

Thank you families for making our trip so wonderful!!! We can't wait to see you all soon!!!

farm visitors

Grandma & Grandpa Rogers had a few visitors while we were at the farm. Aunt Kristin & Uncle Todd (& cousin Millie) were driving home to Wisconsin from Philadelphia (they had been at a wedding) and stopped by to see us.

Aunt Trish (Judy's best friend... they were like that TV show "Kate & Allie") also came by to meet Orson. Trish brought Orson some great toys!
If Orson is going to be fussy, it's in the evening. (am I a bad mom for thinking Orson's crying is cute?)

Ralph & Patsy are great family friends and live on the farm next to Grandma & Grandpa. They stopped by for dinner and a little Orson time. We enjoyed eating some corn from their crops as well as some yummy beets.

On our last night at the farm, Orson's Great-Aunt Martha came by after work. She is Grandma Sarah's younger sister and is like a second mom to me. (she even took me to the "Bozo Circus Show" when I was 5)

Thank you everyone for coming by! Orson loved seeing you all!!!

farm rides

We had to show Orson the beautiful orange VW van that Grandpa Bruce restored for us! It was a great day for a drive.

Orson sat in the way back and loved the wind hitting his tongue.

Grandpa & Grandma sat with Orson in the back.
We drove through Amish country and I resisted taking pictures of the people (except for this girl on her bicycle).

This field of sunflowers looked amazing.

This truck is Bruce's latest project... it looks so good! I can't wait for Grandpa to teach Orson all about cars and trucks.

farm adventures

Grandpa took Orson for a fun ride on the Gator. Grandma & I hopped in the back and we drove to the pond. The pond is back behind the fields. I wanted to put Orson in the corn field and do a "children of the corn" blog entry but it didn't happen... maybe next summer.
We watched the fish swim and I looked for a 4-leaf clover for Orson. I had found one just a few days before Byron & I got married on the farm. No luck finding one for Orson but it will be fun looking for one with him when he gets older.
There's a little island on the pond...

Milo & Olivia (the dogs) came with (they go everywhere with Bruce) and they cooled off in the pond.
Grandpa let Orson steer the Gator.
Orson enjoyed the ride so much that he fell asleep in Grandma's arms on the way back to the house.
