Inquiring minds requested a baby picture of Byron. (Byron is on the right) Maybe Grandma Judy can tell us how old Byron is in this photo.

surprise!

I set Orson down on his quilt so I could get a glass of water. As I returned (seconds later) I am shocked to see his diaper is mostly off! What happened?!!!? Did I not fasten the velcro properly? Can he now take his own diaper off? Oh, life continues to get more exciting all the time!

jamming

On Tuesday, Orson & I headed over to Maggie's house to turn these beautiful berries into jam.

Orson & I weren't much help but we enjoyed watching Maggie & Leah work.

Here's Leah explaining the jamming process to Orson.

Orson was very interested in Maggie's newest puppy named Opal.

Maggie was also dog-sitting her parent's dog.

Have I mentioned that Maggie also has a large number of chickens & ducks?

Here's Maggie feeding the chickens.

Orson loved playing with Leah. He did not enjoy making jam, but Byron & I are enjoying eating the jam.

rasberry season

On Monday, Orson & I went cherry and rasberry picking with Leah, Naomi, & Micah.

The farmer let us sample different cherries... we ended up choosing to pick Vans. He cut the branches down for us so we didn't have to climb any ladders.

After the cherries we headed to the rasberries.

I found it amusing that we all wore rasberry-colored shirts.

Leah is a master berry picker. She knows all the right places to find the best berries.

Micah did a great job being in charge of the wagon & running the containers back and forth. We ended up picking 16 pounds of rasberries. Most will be made into jam on Tuesday.

I loved hearing Orson giggle with Naomi while I picked some berries.

how cute is orson?

Orson is so adorable that on the Sunday train ride home, the blind man sitting next to us said "cute baby."

sunday surprise

As Orson and I wheeled over to the booth on Sunday morning, we noticed a big bunch of orange balloons looming in the back.

When we saw the "Happy Birthday" banner, Orson and I knew we were getting a party!

I was spoiled with many thoughtful gifts!

Naomi & Micah made me this amazing cake. Orange frosting!?! The cake topper was beautiful... if you look closely you can see that it's composed of thread spools, thread, orange flowers, and small black & white photos of the family. I love it!

Micah waited patiently to eat the cake. I convinced him we should sneak a taste...

Leah made some great party hats.

Orson was soundly asleep by the time we made it home.

birthday picnic

On Friday, Byron & Orson took me on a picnic in the Gorge. We had lunch and then some birthday cupcakes. In the following picture, Orson is about to help me blow out the candle.

The weather was fantastic.

Don't worry, Orson was only in the sun a few minutes.

Orson loved the outing!

Then he crashed as soon as we got home.

Happy Birthday to Cheese! Our friend Cheese (yes, I said Cheese) creates fun, colorful creations out of glass (http://www.kristinecheeseman.com/). She and I also happen to share a birthday.
